Newsroom mourns loss of former colleague, 39

Journalists at the South Wales Evening Post in Swansea have been left saddened by the loss of a former colleague who has died suddenly, aged 39.

Steve Morris, of Fforestfach, was a former copy control manager at the Northcliffe-owned title.

He died last Wednesday after having been hospitalised following a stroke.

Steve had started with the Evening Post as a scanner and went on to become team leader, supervisor and then copy control manager.

Evening Post production manager Helen Powell said: “Steve lived life to the full. He enjoyed his life and worshipped Cheryl, his wife.”

“He was a really nice guy, very family orientated. He used to take his mother shopping every Thursday to Asda.

“He was very well thought of here and well-liked by everybody. It is a real shock. Everybody is just devastated.”

“The thoughts of the department and the company are with Steve’s family at this sad time.”

Ad services manager Janice Krawszik said: “As a fellow manager, Steve was wholly supportive and helped me out on many occasions, which I’m very grateful for. His technical knowledge was excellent.”
