New website for Evening Standard

London’s Evening Standard has relaunched its web offering with a news-focused site to sit alongside the entertainment-focused thisislondon.co.uk

The new site, Standard.co.uk aims to offer visitors a one-stop shop for news, business and sport, as well as comment and analysis.

Sister site thisislondon.co.uk will remain entertainment-focused and now sit within Standard.co.uk as a guide to arts, going out and nightlife.

Visitors will be encouraged to get involved with the site by positing comments around the paper’s London campaigns, such as Beating Knife Crime and A Seat for Every Commuter.

Andrew Mullins, Evening Standard MD, said, “I’m delighted that we now have clarity with our digital offering from the Evening Standard.”

“We believe that this new clarity, and a genuine multi-platform consumer and commercial offering, will be greatly appreciated by our readers and advertisers.”

thisislondon.co.uk used to carry news in common with Northcliffe’s regional thisis sites but it was changed to an entertainment-based offering in 2006.
