New deputy editor for The Bolton News

A reshuffle at The Bolton News has resulted in several promotions among the editorial team, including the appointment of a new deputy editor.

Lynn Ashwell has moved up from assistant editor (news) to deputy editor of The Bolton News. Lynn joined the paper in 1999 as news editor before moving to assistant editor.

There has also been a restructure of the news desk with James Higgins promoted from head of content to assistant editor (content). James, who has been at Bolton since August 2005, will be responsible for providing the highest quality content of words and images in print and online.

Andrew McFarlane will be promoted from assistant news editor to deputy news editor and David Crookes will move from deputy news editor to digital content editor.

David, who started at The Bolton News as a trainee in 1999, will work with the internet team to help to drive forward the web coverage and to ensure that the paper’s online offering dovetails with the printed product.

Andrew joined the paper in December 2006 after working on the North West Enquirer.

On sub editors, John Griffiths will become chief sub-editor. He has been at The Bolton News 15 years.
