MEN to broadcast c-charge debate on local tv outlet

The Manchester Evening News is to co-host a debate on the city’s plans for congestion charging tonight on its local tv outlet Channel M.

The debate hosted by Channel M presenter Andy Crane will be broadcast live between 6-8pm this evening.

Campaigners on both sides of the argument will come face to face with Susan Williams, the Conservative Leader of Trafford Council, and Blackley Labour MP Graham Stringer putting the No side of the argument.

Facing them will be Sir Richard Leese, the Leader of Manchester Council, and Lis Phelan, Chairman of the official ‘yes’ campaign.

The debate in front of an 80-strong studio audience will also have an interactive element with viewers asked to text in during the show to “News 88821″ or send e mails to [email protected].

Channel M can be found at Sky Digital 203, Channel 878 Virgin or Channel 39 terrestrial. There will be a full report of the debate in tomorrow’s Evening News.
