If it moves it matters for transport expert Alan

An award-winning former regional newspaper reporter has set up a new transport magazine and website covering “everything that moves.”

Alan Salter, former transport correspondent of the Manchester Evening News, set up TransportMatters and its online portal www.transportmatters.co.uk earlier this year.

The magazine, now on its second issue, is emailed directly to the movers and shakers of the north-west transport industry.

Alan is planning to make the magazine and site pay by selling targeted advertising to a specialist audience, capitalising on a planned forthcoming £3.5bn series of investments in Greater Manchester’s transport infrastructure.

TransportMatters contains news of local and national developments in trains, planes, buses, trams and roads, as well as opinion, motoring and travel.

Its news values are summed up in the masthead slogan: “If it moves, it matters.”

Martin, who was twice named Transport Journalist of the Year said: “The concept of sending out magazines free to people who matter is not a new one. There are others on the market but TransportMatters is lively and entertaining, as well as serious when it needs to be.

“I reckon that everyone in the industry is interested in what everybody else is up to – whatever the mode of transport.

“The first edition in May was only four pages. The next one in June was eight…and July’s will be bigger again.

“Here in Greater Manchester, things are moving very fast so breaking news will continue to appear on my website www.transportmatters.co.uk.”
