Hunt is on for new island editor

A fledgling newspaper just months into its life is looking for a new editor.

The bi-monthly Isle of Wight Gazette, launched in July, is seeking someone to spearhead its editorial development with a view to eventually going weekly and launching a companion website.

Previous editor Brian Dennis left the paper on Tuesday by mutual consent.

He was previously editor of the Isle of Wight County Press, which he left in May 2007 to pursue other interests, before joining the Gazette in the summer for its launch.

Isle of Wight Gazette owner Martin Potter said: “I need someone to pull the whole team together to grow the paper and up the pagination as I want to go weekly as soon as possible.

“Somebody who has the experience and can drive the paper forward.

“We’re also looking for a senior reporter – we need a dynamic duo who are forward thinking. It would be a very varied and interesting job.”

The Gazette is free and comes out every other Friday with this week seeing edition eight hit the presses.

Martin says the title has been well-received on the island with the paper in the enviable position that it “can’t take any more advertising” due to the high interest.

Martin has also run Island Life Magazine for the past four years.

How odd about Life Magazine:

There doesn’t appear to have been an issue since 2006. Is this something to do with Royal connections and Emperors sans clothing?
