The Guardian Media Group has gone live with the latest of its revamped websites.
getsurrey.co.uk follows on from revamps at sister websites getreading.co.uk and gethampshire.co.uk which have received their online makeovers.
The website is a one-stop shop for news from all of GMG’s weekly titles in the county: Surrey Advertiser, Surrey Times, Esher News and Mail series, Woking News and Mail series, Surrey and Hants Star, Camberley News and Mail and Ash and Farnham Mail.
It features news, sports, entertainment and comment from right across Surrey and give visitors the chance to interact much more than the previous site did.
Online reporter Sam Blackledge said: “There’ll be a lot more video content and user-generated stuff – loads of blogs and comments, things that people can get involved in.
“It looks quite flash compared to our old site.
“It has been developed by the Guardian people in Manchester and we’ve been constantly liaising with them on how it looks.
“We have a good mix on the front page, some sports and news stories.
“The home page is more of an overview of what we’ve got if you delve in.
“From my point of view, that’s what the homepage should be about.”
