Food for thought on journalism graduate's new website

A journalism graduate has served up a new website which aims to cover all aspects of food in the 21st century.

After studying journalism at noSWeat in London, Chris Gaynor gained some experience with local newspapers and even a cultural magazine, in Romania.

He has now launched plentyonyourplate.com which he hopes will become a one-stop shop for hard news stories and campaigns about food.

The site’s full menu also contains a blog and feedback forum along with links to key websites in the food industry such as the World Health Organisation.

Chris, 26, said: “I’ve launched this website as I’ve always had a passion for food.

“I want to go political about food rather than just going down the normal route of reviews.

“Food is a quite a hot topic at the moment with stories such as rising food prices.”

At present Chris is the sole writer for site which he runs from his home, in Surrey, but he already has other contributors lined up and is calling for people to get in touch with stories.

He admits that he is both confident and nervous about the chances of success.

Chris added: “There’s a gap in the market for an all-encompassing food website. I have been looking on Google and can only see recipe and restaurant review sites.

“This is something, if marketed properly, could fill that gap. I am also going to be looking to get advertising on the site.”
