Electronic screens to replace billboards at Newsquest sales points

Newsquest has begun to replace traditional billboards with the new “Extra!” digital signage system, which combines LED and LCD displays with wireless mobile technology, meaning both dynamic advertising and ‘ticker’ headlines can be sent instantly to news stands nationwide.
Newsquest hopes to maximise on queue dwell times at newsagents, helping titles to reach new captive audiences.


Sarah Irvine has been appointed managing director of Bath News & Media with effect from January 1, 2008. She is currently commercial director of the business.

The Periodical Publishers’ Association, the body which represents the country’s magazine industry, is offering a Diploma for new and would-be editors.

Profi International editor Andrew Faulkner won the Arable category with a detailed analysis of the features and performance of a heavy duty minimum tillage cultivator. Joanne Pugh, Farmers Guardian livestock editor, took the Livestock and Grassland category award for describing the benefits to dairy farmers of getting on-farm advice on grass sward management. And the Environment and Rural Issues category went to Mike Stones, former Farmers Weekly deputy editor, with his global assignment article on the US biofuels industry.


Figures obtained by the Lancashire Evening Post under the Freedom of Information Act show 1,043 drivers have won cash from the council after blaming road surfaces, roadworks or negligence for damaging their vehicles, resulting in a £150,000 in damages over the past four years.
