Argus boss in video grilling of Tory chief

Telegraph & Argus editor Perry Austin-Clarke turned video-interrogator for the day when the whole Conservative Party shadow cabinet decamped to Bradford.

While the rest of the media had to make do with David Cameron’s views on forced marriages to fill their pages, the T&A secured an exclusive interview with the Tory leader, and it fell to the editor to fill the role of grand inquisitor.

The meeting was videoed, a first for the editor if not Mr Cameron, and you can judge for yourself whether TV’s “Paxo” has anything to be worried about as the full 25-minute interview is posted on: the T&A website.

It also yielded a fantastic exclusive page one with the Tory leader calling on Bradford to push for a directly elected mayor – a story guaranteed to shake up the local political scene.

Perry said: “It’s not often you get the chance to grill the leader of one of the main political parties on any subject you like, especially in this day and age when politicians seem intent on trying to control every aspect of the news.

“Hats off to Mr Cameron for his refreshing attitude – long may it continue.”
