Workshop offers tips on how to get funding to train as a journalist

Wannabe journalists from ethnically and socially diverse backgrounds are being invited to a workshop to get tips on applying for financial help while they train.

National Council for the Training of Journalists chairman Kim Fletcher will open the event and chief executive Joanne Butcher will talk about training as a journalist and how to apply for the new Journalism Diversity Fund.

At least six bursaries will be awarded to budding journalists during the next academic year, and the event will give anyone who is thinking of applying the chance to learn more and make their application as strong as possible.

Students who have studied an NCTJ journalism course will also be on hand to share their experiences.

The workshop is being held at No Sweat Journalism Training, 16/17 Clerkenwell Close, London on January 24.

The event, organised by the NCTJ and support network Aspire, is free, but anyone wishing to attend should e-mail [email protected] as places are limited.
