Snappers get their reward

Thirteen photographers have passed the National Certificate Examination they took on November 6.

The National Council for the Training of Journalists has announced the results and named the candidates who won prizes for excelling in the test.

Distinctions were awarded to press photographers William Binns, of the Coventry Evening Telegraph, Andrew Garbutt (Telegraph and Argus, Bradford), Theo Moye (Croydon Advertiser Group), and Alex Severn (Gloucestershire Echo).

The others who passed were press photographers Roger Arbon (Cambridge Evening News), Lee Boswell (Barnsley Chronicle), Lucy Duval (Evening Herald, Plymouth), Lindsey Parnaby (freelance), Darryl Smith (Coventry Evening Telegraph), Benjamin Stansall (Photo Point Picture Agency), and Olivia Woodhouse (Reading Chronicle).

Photo-journalists Carl De Souza (freelance) and Paul Robinson (Diss Express) also passed.

Both annual prizes went to candidates who work for evening newspapers.

The Nunn Syndication Prize for Photographer of the Year went to William Binns, of the Coventry Evening Telegraph, while the South Wales Argus Prize for Best Picture Spread was awarded to Andrew Garbutt of the Telegraph and Argus.
