Popular course trebles its places

A new degree course for would-be journalists at Edge Hill College of Higher Education has proved so popular that the college has trebled the number of places available for September starters.

Edge Hill, at Ormskirk, is now to fill 60 places on the BA (Hons) Journalism degree course, instead of the original 20 after applications exceeded all expectations.

Course leader Tony Turjansky said: “We are delighted that we have been given the chance to recruit more students, and we are keen to hear from anyone interested in studying for a career in the news industry, including mature students.”

The three-year, full-time course covers all aspects of multimedia journalism theory and practice. Students have the use of a new, purpose-built newsroom and first class IT and broadcast facilities.

The course is provisionally accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists, which can lead to the award of a professional industry qualification as well as the academic degree.

Edge Hill is a higher education institution accredited by Lancaster University. For more information on the course, contact Tony Turjansky on 01695 584066.
