West Country title relaunched

The Wellington Weekly News as it was (left) and after its relaunch

One of the West Country’s oldest titles, the Wellington Weekly News, has been reborn in a new format.

The Somerset paper has joined the stable of Bristol United Press stable – part of Northcliffe – and is now produced and managed by the Taunton Times, ratherthan the Mid Devon Gazette.

It has been re-launched with a new design. Pagination has increased sharply from 20 to 32, colour has been introduced on 16 pages and the paper now has its own dedicated schools pages, community news section, leisure guide and four pages of local sport.

Editor Debbie Rundle, who is also in charge of the Taunton Times, said the new-look WWN has been praised by community leaders, sports fans and the business community.

The paper is subbed by Jon Hancock and reporters are John Nashand Katie Courts.
