'We're all to blame' says Citizen

Litter bugs are making life miserable for the people of Gloucester – and now a local paper is getting involved to tackle the problem.

Furious residents are constantly ringing the Gloucester Citizen complaining that the city they love has become awash with discarded crisp packets and takeaway boxes.

So now the paper has decided enough is enough and is launching a campaign to clear up the mess.

In an impassioned front page article, the Citizen claimed that the council wasn’t the one to blame – it was the general public.

And the paper is asking readers to get in touch to ‘name and shame’ the worst grotspots in the city.

The Citizen said: “If we go on dumping more and more litter and rubbish, then even the best street cleaners will be overwhelmed.

“The solution lies in our own hands. We are the ones who create litter.

“The Citizen is committing itself to play a full role in supporting initiatives that help clean up our streets.”
