Watchdog hits the road – and is set for Edinburgh

Glasgow Evening Times editor Charles McGhee will be part of a panel to answer questions when the Press Complaints Commission roadshow arrives in Edinburgh.

The event, on May 13, is part of an initiative to open up the work of the press watchdog and explain its role to the public.

Charles will be joined by Commission member Vivien Hepworth, Sunday Post editor David Pollington and Commission director Tim Toulmin.

Commission chairman Sir Christopher Meyer will host the event, which includes a surgery as well as question-and-answer session, at the Balmoral Hotel.

It is open to all members of the public, and will conclude with an open reception.

The meeting follows the success of the Commission’s first open day, which was held in Manchester last year.

Another is planned for Cardiff later this year as part of what is envisaged will be a regular series of meetings.

More information on the Edinburgh event can be obtained by calling David Carter on 020 7353 1248.
