The Wimbledon and Sutton Guardians have stepped in to help save a city farm.

The gates at Deen City Farm have been closed for weeks because of thenationwide foot and mouth epidemic and it is feared the popular attractionwill never re-open unless the community rallies around.

With no end in sight to the restrictions, volunteers at the registeredcharity asked their local newspaper to highlight the difficulties.

The Guardian launched an appeal for funds to keep the farm going and urged all sections of the community to organise fund raising events which will be highlighted in the newspaper
