A news editor in the North West is planning a trip to South East Asia to raise money for people with mental health problems.

Dan Grice, who works for the Southport Visiter, is taking part in a 460km sponsored bike ride across Vietnam in aid of the mental health charity Mind.

The event takes place later this year and Dan’s wife, Cathy, is also embarking on the exhausting journey.

The pair of them are aiming to raise £5,000 for the charity – and have started the fundraising early by organising a fun day.

Halford’s Superstore on Kew Retail Park is hosting the event which will feature a bouncy castle, car-washing and a cycle-stunt display.

Dan said: “It is great that businesses in Southport are getting behind us and I am also looking forward to our charity quiz night on Friday, June 1.”
