Undercover operation leadsto vice fine

A woman who was setting up massage parlours in the Telford area has been sentenced by magistrates following an undercover investigation by the Shropshire Star.

Magistrates were told she was caught in “sexual activity” with a client at her latest establishment in Wellington. She was fined £1,000 for keeping a brothel.

In the court story which followed her arrest, the paper told readers that the defendant first came to the attention of police two years ago when a sex-for-sale business was forced to close after being exposed by an undercover investigation by Shropshire Star reporters.

Operating under the name Euro Tanning Studios, the massage parlour was being run in rooms above shops in Wellington Market Square.

A dossier provided by the newspaper led to an extensive police inquiry, but no action was taken against the prostitutes working at the premises.

She later received a caution from police when a small private flat in a residential area of Wellington was used to run a sex-for-sale business.

And last year she was again in action operating a vice business from a privately-owned rented flat in Hollinswood.
