Trinity launches new frees for Midlands

Trinity Mirror has launched two new free newspapers, covering Warwick and Royal Leamington Spa.

The Warwick Times and Royal Leamington Spa Times are published by Coventry Newspapers, and to coincide with the launches the existing Kenilworth Citizen has also been renamed the Kenilworth Times.

Together they will have a distribution of 52,000, reaching 85 per cent of all homes in the area each Wednesday.

The editorial team is led by Andrew Punshon, group series editor of Coventry Weekly Newspapers, and title editor is Darren Parkin.

Andrew said: “We are delighted to be expanding our operation into the Leamington and Warwick areas and I am thrilled that Darren has agreed to edit the papers.

“We will give readers papers packed full of community-based stories that matter to them and will endeavour to be the first with local news and features.”

Each issue will have an average pagination of 100, with local news and reviews as well as advertising platforms such as recruitment, motors and property.

Debbie Davies, advertisement director for Coventry Newspapers, said: “There are so many local businesses in Warwick and Leamington Spa and the Times series will provide them with a way to reach over 40,000 homes in these towns.”

The new launches bring Trinity Mirror’s total number of titles in the Midlands to 43, adding to a portfolio which includes the Coventry Evening Telegraph, Birmingham Evening Mail and Solihull Times.

It follows the launch of the free Kenilworth Citizen and the paid-for Solihull & Warwickshire Guardian earlier this year.
