Together we can boost sales

Teamwork between editorial, sales and promotions is the key to boosting regional newspaper sales.

That will be one of the key messages at the Newspaper Society’s two-day annual newspaper sales conference which started in Manchester today.

More than 300 delegates from the regional press were expected to attend.

The conference will cover a range of subjects including: developing products to meet customers’ needs; the impact of free daily newspapers; and the future development of the regional newspaper industry.

Among the speakers will be:
Mike Newman, circulation director, Mail Newspapers
Russell Borthwick, head of marketing development, Trinity Mirror Publishing, UK and Ireland
David Marriot, managing director, MEN Direct
Peter Spencer, sports editor, Manchester Evening News
Lorraine O’Brien, marketing director, Liverpool Daily Post and Echo
Alan Smith, newspaper sales and promotions director, Aberdeen Journals Ltd

The newspaper sales and promotions awards will be presented at a gala dinner tomorrow.
