Today, the Journaltomorrow, the world!

Stories from the North Devon Journal have been appearing far and wide.

Their running story about the Phantom Gnome Planter of Old Lynton Town – who keeps covering a local couple’s front garden with gnomes – has attracted the attention of an Australian breakfast radio show DJ, who interviewed Journal news editor Alex Goodman.

Now an American TV company has contacted the paper after seeing the story on the newspaper’s website.

The Los Angeles-based producer of the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not show plans to run a piece and the Journal has put him in touch with gnome recipients Betty and John Hoyles.

The Journal also saw its exclusive on teacher Laurence Whittal-Williams – who first introduced Olympic gold medal triple jumper Jonathan Edwards to the sport – picked up and run by The Sun.

In the same edition of Britain’s biggest-selling tabloid, prospective North Devon Tory Parliamentary candidate Clive Allen made the headlines for donning The Sun’s Viking-style headgear as part of a campaign celebrating the Danish people’s rejection of the euro.
