Thirty something challenge gets results

Journalists Deanna Delamotta and Sarah Hayward are getting results with their Big Thirty Something Challenge.

HoldTheFrontPage reported how the pair threw down the gauntlet to readers of the Shropshire Star and asked them for help in compiling the best venues for a night out when you’re in your 30s.

“Where do you go in Shropshire and Mid-Wales if you’re still up for a good time but don’t want the baby-faced clientele making you feel like the oldest swinger in town?” they wrote.

One week on, the paper has received a host of supportive e-mails from “local thirty somethings” who have been asking themselves the same question.

Useful recommendations of good nights out have also been sent in and shared with the readers.

The campaign has also prompted two local nightclubs to say they will launch over-30s party nights if the demand is there.

The Shropshire Star was stung into action after two 31-year-old Telford women wrote to the paper asking for help in finding somewhere for a good night out where they would not be surrounded by teenyboppers.
