Things that go bump in the byte

Weird and wonderful things are going on at Eastern Counties Newspapers.

The group’s website includes a section called The N-Files, devoted to reports of spooky goings-on in East Anglia.

There are drop-down menus on crop circles, UFO sightings, mystery cats, “spooky Norwich” and Lantern Men – and even “general weirdness”.

The N-Files was compiled from submitted material and reports from ECN’s four daily papers – the Norwich Evening News, Eastern Daily Press, East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Evening Star.

Joe McNally, associate editor of Fortean Times, says Norwich is one of the weirdest places in Britain for strange beasts and birds. Creatures that have been reportedly sighted there include luminous owls and a red-eyed “devil dog” known as Black Shuck.
