The Chronicle helps a child to find a new family

A toddler without a family has found one thanks to the Chester Chronicle.

An article about four-year-old Kriss resulted in several enquiries – as well as other requests for information about adoption.

The article about Kriss formed the basis of the Chronicle’s coverage of National Adoption Week.

And the piece has led to some positive action from readers.

Social worker Mavis Young said: “We had a good response. Some people were prompted into ringing about adoption and we had a few for Kriss.

“It is too early to say if they are going to be appropriate or not. He needs a lot of nurturing and a lot of attention. He’s a very active boy with some learning difficulties. He will be quite hard work.”

The paper worked with the Chester Diocesan Adoption Service, which has been looking for homes for six hard-to-place children.

The organisation was asked to help by Chester County Council who thought they would probably have more success than their own department.
