Tension builds at the Herald

You could slice the tension at the Tamworth Herald with a knife.

The paper published a four-page souvenir pull-out to mark the paper’s sponsorship of Tamworth Town against Rochdale in the first round of the FA Cup.

But after securing a draw in the original tie, the excitement is still high as the team – and the newspaper – prepare for the replay.

The special publication looked at Tamworth FC’s journey to the first round and also featured a personal tribute to the team by the Herald’s editor, Sam Holliday, drawing on his 25 years as an ardent fan.

But now Sam, along with the rest of the team’s fans, will have to wait until later this month to find out if their FA Cup dreams are still alive.

  • If Tamworth win the replay they will face Blackpool or Newport County in the second round.
