Standard changes

Readers have chosen the new look for the Wilts & Gloucestershire Standard -including changing the masthead from red to black.

Staff of the newspaper had polled the readers, who thought a black masthead gave the Standard a more traditional feel to better represent the area it covers.

The poll was carried out at key shopping locations in Cirencester, Malmesbury and Stow-on-the-Wold.

Readers were also given the chance to have their say on design matters and even to meet the editor to make suggestions about how the Standard series could improve.

An easy-to-follow format, a thorough re-design and new typefaces will all add to the ease with which the newspaper can be read.

As well as the newspaper’s new look, it will also have a more refined news reporting style as well as a different selection of regional editions.

The Wilts & Gloucestershire Standard and the Cotswold Standard are to be combined into a bumper edition while the Malmesbury Standard will increase in size and have more pages allowing greater coverage of the town and area.

New journalists have been taken on and the newspaper series will show off its new look from next week.
