Staff promoted at two regionals

Three new posts have been created by editor Ian Mean at the Gloucester Citizen, as he puts the finishing touches to his senior team.

News editor Matt Holmes has been promoted to head of content and becomes the paper’s number three.

Chief sub Tony Marcovecchio and his deputy Darren Powell become overnight editor and head of design, respectively.

And the Gloucestershire chief reporter at the Western Daily Press, Bev Hawes, will join the team at the Citizen as associate news editor.

Other moves include deputy news editor John Sykes’ promotion to news editor, reporter Phil Norris’ move to John’s old job and sub-editor Mark Salter, who becomes joint assistant chief sub, working alongside Paula Smith.

  • Meanwhile, at the Derby Evening Telegraph, editor Mike Norton has made Andy Wright his deputy, moving from his role as assistant editor. He joined the paper in 1998 as news editor.

Promotions editor Hilary Burton will take on the role of acting assistant editor.
