Spot the Ball man dies

A man who spent his whole career working for the South Wales Evening Post has died at the age of 81.

Eddie Norman joined the paper when he was 14 and, apart from National Service with the Welsh Guards during the Second World War, stayed with the paper until his retirement.

He started work as an office boy and went on to organise the classified ads and spot the ball competitions.

By the time he retired in 1984, he had become accounts manager.

His daughter, Sheila, said: “Although my father died suddenly in the end, he had been ill on and off for some time and had retired because of a heart attack.”
