Sports author is mourned

Kent journalist Dudley Moore has died suddenly at the age of 71.

He worked for the Kent Messenger Group in Maidstone and later set up his own news and sports agency in Rochester in 1961.

He moved over to sport and covered Gillingham FC on local radio.

But his main love was cricket and as well as covering matches for more than 30 years he supplied summaries for Wisden and was the author of The History of Kent County Cricket Club.

He also assisted with the autobiographies of players Mike Denness, Bob Woolmer and Alan Knott.

He never fully retired and was still co-ordinating phone-line reports for ice hockey club Invicta Dynamos.
