Sinead speaks of her love for former Echo reporter

Controversial singer Sinead O’Connor has spoken out about her planned marriage to journalist Nick Sommerlad.

A former reporter at the Evening Echo in Basildon, Nick now works for the Press Association in Dublin where he met Sinead through mutual friends.

Nick proposed after a whirlwind four-month romance, and the couple plan to marry next year.

In an interview in the Essex Chronicle, Sinead explained how her love for Nick has transformed her life, and how she is ready to be a traditional mother and homemaker.

She said: “I am much more confident these days, I’m back home and in touch with my family.

“I am not caught up with being a rock star – and I am in love. I feel as if I have died and gone to heaven.

“I intend to be a non-politically correct wife, baking and cooking all day and making myself sexually available.”

It will not be Sinead’s first marriage. She wed musician John Reynolds in 1989, and they have a son, Jake. Sinead also has a five-year-old daughter, Roisin.

However she is sure her second marriage will be a happy one.

She said: “You know when you’ve met the right man. All I want to do is have more babies and look after my husband.”
