Sharon's big break at the Advertiser

Deputy news editor Sharon Hodkin has returned to work after three months off following a serious car accident.

She took up her new post at the Newark Advertiser on April 10 this year.

But two days later, driving to work in her new company car, she was involved in a head-on car collision which left her with broken ribs, a smashed foot and chest injuries.

The car was a write-off.

Sharon (27) is still undergoing physiotherapy and has to attend hospital three times a week.

She uses crutches and will undergo an operation in 18 months’ time to try to repair the damage to her foot.

She has now started back at work on a part-time basis.

“It is good to be back at work. I had wanted to spend time getting to know the area better but that has all had to be put back now,” she said.
