Rugby ride for Morocco trek

Reporter Daniel Bardsley is to embark on a Moroccan mountain trek in a bid to raise £2,000 for a local charity.

The 26-year-old trainee journalist at the Rugby Advertiser wants to boost the Myton Hospice Appeal.

And to get his effort is to get off to a good start with a cycle ride around the 100-mile border of his newspaper’s circulation area – to raise cash for the Trek.

He is taking part in the appeal fund’s Morocco Atlas Mountains Trek in May 2001, and has to come up with £2,000 in sponsorship before he can go.

The progress of a new hospice at the fringes of Rugby hospital is big news in the town – the centre is set to open in 2001 and means people with terminal illness will not have to travel to Warwick for treatment and care.

Rugby Advertiser editor Peter Aengenheister said: “This is a very worthwhile cause and I applaud Daniel for raising money in such an arduous way.”
