Regional press encouraging debate

Tony Blair has invited readers of the Middlesborough Evening Gazette to ask him any question they want.

The Prime Minister has promised to respond to letters sent to the paper on any aspect of Government policy – as well as his personal life.

He said: “Send your questions to the paper about what needs to be done, about what, in your opinion, we are doing wrong, and what we’re getting right.

“And feel free to ask me about life at Number Ten as well.”

Meanwhile at Huddersfield, readers of the Daily Examiner are being given the chance to quiz Tory leader William Hague.

He’s going to visit the newspaper offices for a question-and-answer session later this month, in an event where people will be able to put him on the spot.

Could there be an election on the way?
