Rape fear sparks attack alarm surge

More than 250 Lynn News readers have brought personal attack alarms from the newspaper’s offices after it stocked up following a rape in the town.

Several other women have come forward to say they were approached by a serial sex attacker after the paper publicised the case and appealed for potential witnesses to come forward to help the police investigation.

Around 1,000 alarms were sold in King’s Lynn in the two days following the police announcement that a man who has raped twice, and assaulted on three other occasions, may strike again.

More than 250 were bought at the Purfleet Street newspaper offices and another 450 from the local police station.

The College of West Anglia has distributed another 80 to nursing students.
