RAMS on the move

Ranald Allan Media Solutions has relocated to Aberdeenshire but will continue to have a presence on Teesside to represent its client base in the North East.

Former editor Ranald Allan has been operating as a media consultant for a year and will now work from RAMS offices on both Teesside and in Aberdeenshire.

“My work recently has taken me all over the country but by using modern communication tools I am never out of touch and I could be based in the Outer Hebrides or the Algarve and still deliver the goods,” says Ranald Allan, former editor of the Evening Gazette.

His work includes reviewing editorial operations on newspapers, writing media communications strategies for organisations, planning, editing and managing the production of publications, producing articles for regional and national magazines.

Ranald, (53), trained as a journalist with Aberdeen Journals and was appointed features editor of the Evening Express in 1978. In 1984 he moved to The Press and Journal as assistant to the editor and then to The Scotsman as senior assistant editor in 1987.

In 1989 he took up his first editorship, at the Evening Post in Reading, and in 1991 was appointed editor of the Evening Gazette, Teesside. He left the Evening Gazette on December 31, 1999, and set up RAMS on Teesside in 2000.

He can be contacted by e-mail at: [email protected].
