Allegations that the Bath Chronicle racially harassed a local councillor have been dropped after a probe by the Crown Prosecution Service.
The newspaper was told by police that no further action was being taken in a row which blew up between the paper and Coun Peter Jovcic-Sas.
The Chronicle named him as the person whose actions led to the removal of a St George’s flag from Manvers Street police station in Bath. It was removed in case it offended any ethnic monirities.
Coun Jovcic-Sas denied any involvement and then complained to the police about racially-aggravated harassment.
But a senior police officer wrote to editor David Gledhill to explain there was insufficient evidence.
