Improvements to a colourful garden oasis have been made possible by the owners of the Wandsworth Borough News.

The Gannett Foundation, the charitable arm of the American owners of Newsquest Media, donated £10,000 to Share Community, a Battersea charity which trains and rehabilitates people with both mental and physical handicaps.

The money was spent revamping the Springfield Hospital garden, which was officially opened by the Mayor of Wandsworth Colin Dawe.

The Gannett Foundation has also recently donated a further £6,000 to local charities on top of the £200,000 donated to community charities across the UK last Christmas.
