Post wages war against drugs

The Nottingham Evening Post is teaming up with a local brewery to fight the war against drugs.

Helpline numbers are to be printed on 250,000 beer mats and distributed to 150 pubs in the Post’s circulation area by Hardy and Hansons, which brews Kimberly Ales.

The helplines, run by support agencies in Nottingham, can be used by anyone affected by drugs.

The move follows the Post’s ten-day series on how drugs have penetrated every part of the city’s society, and has been praised by drug agencies and the police.

Post assistant editor Neil White said: “We felt it was important to react positively to our harrowing series on drugs.

“We want to get the message out to as many people as possible that help is there – either for those who take drugs or their loved ones. We are delighted that Hardys and Hansons should help us because pubs play such an important role in the lives of so many of our readers.”
