Post & Press staff vote to strike

Journalists at the Bristol Evening Post and Western Daily Press have voted in favour of strike action in response to job cuts at the Northcliffe titles.

Of the 82 National Union of Journalists members who voted in an official ballot at the two papers, 61 voted in favour of strike action (75 per cent of those who voted).

Twenty-one voted against strike action (25 per cent of those who voted).

Journalists at the papers will hold another union meeting tomorrow at which they will vote on whether to go ahead with any action.

Western Daily Press father of chapel Paul Breeden said: “Journalists at the two papers see strike action as a very last resort.
