Post & Mail plans city centre move

Staff at the Birmingham Post & Mail could be on the move, as the company prepares to apply for planning permission to relocate to new city centre premises.

The company is proposing to move from its current base at Colmore Circus to a building in Woodcock Street, at Aston Science Park.

It publishes the Birmingham Mail, Birmingham Post, Sunday Mercury and Birmingham News.

John Bills, managing director of Trinity Mirror Midlands, said: “For some time we have been looking at how and where we might relocate the BPM business into a more modern and suitable building for us all.

“This project has advanced to the stage where we are due to apply for planning permission and the relevant documents will be submitted this week.”

Managed by Birmingham Technology Limited, Aston Science Park is based in the centre of Birmingham on a 65 acre campus which it shares with its neighbour and partner Aston University.

  • The Birmingham titles are among those that have been earmarked for possible sale by Trinity Mirror.

At the end of last year the group said it should “rationalise” its portfolio of titles, and its regional businesses in the Midlands and London and the South East did not offer the best opportunities for the group and were likely to be more attractive to other owners.
