Web-based photo sales boost

Dipinto – which now provides a photo sales service for more than 50 newspaper titles across the UK – is to upgrade its ordering system.

It is introducing a new web-based system to allow newspapers even more flexibility.

The new enhanced service will allow newspapers to send photo orders received via the internet, “walk-ins”, by phone, or post, and will have the additional capability of connecting direct from the newspaper’s web site. The system allows for multiple users and a postcode search facility.

The company’s photo sales service – which offers a 24-hour turn-round delivered direct to readers’ homes – is already being used by some of the top newspapers and groups in the country, including the Express & Star, Shropshire Star, Northeast Press, North Wales Newspapers and a number of Northcliffe titles.

Trials of the new system will take place in early April and it is expected to be available to existing and future customers later in the month.

Commercial director Declan Mellett said: “The substantial improvements to our ordering process will make the photo sales operation even better for newspapers, simpler and more flexible for staff.”

Dipinto is exhibiting at the Newspaper Sales Conference at the Metropole, Birmingham, on March 29, and plans to take stands at this year’s Society of Editors conference and next year’s Newstech.
