Observer snapper's early work to go on display

An exhibition of photographs taken by Buchan Observer photographer Ron Broughall is set to go on display later this month.

The collection of pictures will show events from the Buchan area in the early nineties.

Around 130 snaps have been selected from a collection of 40,000 photographs that were recently presented to Aberdeenshire Museum Archives.

Images on display will include air sea rescues, lifeboat rescues, old time farming, visiting politicians and streets scenes.

Ron said: “I started working for the Buchan Observer 14 years ago so these photographs are almost my oldest ones.

“I selected them myself but they’re not too personal.

“There are a few political ones and pictures of local history – the local hospital being rebuilt and bridges being knocked down.”

The exhibition will be officially opened at the Palace Hotel on July 19 by MP Alex Salmond, and will run until July 23.

Entry is free, although donations are welcome and will go to Cancer Research.
