Newspaper showcases its work to mark anniversary

A special exhibition of photographs has opened as part of anniversary celebrations at Gazette Newspapers in Basingstoke.

This year marks the 125th anniversary of Gazette Newspapers and to help mark the occasion, a special exhibition has been organised to showcase some of the work produced by the photographic team.

The exhibition will also help some good causes as the profits from the sale of reprints will be divided between the Mayor’s Charity Appeal, which is raising money for the Basingstoke and Alton Rehab heart charity and The Early Bird appeal at Basingstoke hospital, and the cancer charity CLIC.

Gazette Newspapers editor Mark Jones said: “Every week, the award-winning Gazette Newspapers photographic team of Sean Dillow, Jason Allen, Sarah Gaunt and Richard Garfield produce excellent work, which means it was a tough task selecting the photographs that feature in the anniversary exhibition.

“The collection we have put together spans various areas of our coverage.

“These are shining examples of the excellent work produced by our team.”

A launch event took place at the Milestones musuem and was attended by several leading community figures including borough mayor Coun Gerry Traynor and his mayoress wife Janet (pictured).

The exhibition will be at Milestones and will run there until mid-October, at which time it will move to The Willis Museum in Basingstoke town centre.
