Newark Advertiser chief photographer John West proved he still has a real attraction for the birds at the Newark and Notts Show.

John was on the prowl for pictures when a Harris’s hawk taking part in a flying display decided to have a rest … on his head.

A reader snapped the moment, capturing a picture that made the front page of the Advertiser’s free newspaper, the Herald.
