An appeal for five ‘phones from the 1950s was solved when a theatre group asked the Aberdeen Press and Journal to help out.

And the Garioch Musical Society and Garioch Youth Musical Society was able to raise the curtain on their production of Bye Bye Birdie – with everything in place for the musical.

Responses to the story asking for stage props came from far and wide across the paper’s circulation area.

And those who gave phones received free tickets for the musical.
