Pheasant flies

Web journalist Peter Pheasant is to leave the Crimezone site he edits for Northcliffe Electronic Publishing for a return to print at the Derby Evening Telegraph – as deputy chief sub.

Prior to his work on the Internet, where he was also joint launch editor for HoldTheFrontPage, Peter’s career included spells as a sub-editor, district news editor and acting chief sub at the Derby Evening Telegraph.

He also enjoyed a weekly newspaper career that took him from trainee reporter to editor of the Ilkeston Advertiser.

Acting editor at Derby, Mike Norton, said: “I am delighted to announce that Pete Pheasant is joining the Evening Telegraph as deputy chief sub.

“He has spent the last 18 months working for Northcliffe Electronic Publishing, helping launch the HoldTheFrontPage site and building and running the very successful Crimezone site.

“I am very pleased, however, that I have been able to entice him back to ink on paper as the replacement for Rob Irvine.”

Rob left his post earlier this month for a position as deputy design editor at the Liverpool Echo.
