The Aberdeen Evening Express has reproduced the chilling image of an 85-year-old widow’s battered face on posters in a bid to catch the thug who attacked her.

Vera MacLean was punched and kicked to the ground after a man forced his way into her Peterhead home. His motive was the theft of her yellow leather purse containing a few pounds.

Apart from having the posters printed, the Express has run high-profile news stories and a comment piece appealing for anyone who knows anyhting about it to contact police.
