Palace date for Ann

A former director of The Hinckley Times has been made an MBE by the Queen at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

Ann Jee is also an international squash player and has been involved in the sport for almost 50 years, representing England at county, national and International level.

Mrs Jee, a former chairman of the England selectors, was joined by her husband John and their children Chris and Sally at the ceremony.

She was joined by 130 others to receive honours at the Palace, including TV presenter Sue Lawley and Golfer Laura Davies, who were both awarded the CBE.

Mrs Jee was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of her services to squash.

She began her career as a teenager and went on to be crowned county champion nine times.
