Open weekend at Larkfield

The printing press at the Kent Messenger’s head office inLarkfield will be open to the public this weekend (September 16 and 17).

It is one of a series of events which are taking place throughout thecountry as part of a festival celebrating the heritage around us.

Visitors will be able to see the machinery that prints the oldest newspaper group’spapers in Kent as well as browsing through a selection of pictures and otherartefacts from the archives.

Included in the special exhibition will be photographs covering royal visitsto Kent, the war years and other major news events.

There will also be a chance to see a video about the Kent Messenger Group.

Group editorial manager Simon Irwin said: “This is a great chance to seebehind the scenes of the Kent Messenger and find out a little about thehistory of the group.”
